- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★This is the perfect local Thai restaurant: not too big, well-staffed and with great food in heaping portions - no skinny plates here! The staff are relaxed, friendly and quick to ensure you're well-taken care of, to the point where if it's not busy, they'll chat for a while in between their duties, if you're feeling happy - and eating here, you will be. I'm a 'medium-spicy' kind of guy, and this fits the bill just right: enough to be refreshing without making my eyes water or turning on the waterworks for my nose. I'll try Level 4 one day, if I'm feeling extra-brave... As mentioned above, the portions here are big: I regularly order #64, and the plate is heaped high with food, with generous amounts of chicken among the just-right rice. I've yet to be able to eat more than half of a full plate, but if you're REAL hungry, you might manage it. I don't try to stuff myself, as the food here tastes just as good the next day: yum! As the restaurant isn't all that spacious, be sure to make a reservation for dinner well ahead of time( noon? )so as not to be disappointed on the busier nights. Best times are Tuesday and Wednesday evenings to avoid crowding, but you can easily fit 6-8 people into some of the booths. Take-out or eat-in, Sookjai is great value for your money and a fine place to dine in comfort. My lady and I love to come here on the quieter evenings and just chill, as the background soundtrack is often soft classical music, which we adore. It's about the most relaxing, laid-back dinner experience we've found here in Victoria, and we plan on being regulars here for a long, long time.By Peter Ehm, April 30, 2017
- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★Have not been in a long time, still fantastic! Crispy fish is so great. Top quality food and best Thai spring rolls for sure!By Debbie Simpson, January 15, 2017
- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★By far the best Thai food in Victoria. They have excellent vegetarian and vegan options as well as an amazing selection of desserts. Their portions are very generous and the service is always amazing. It's also a small family business so it gets pretty busy at times but it's totally worth the wait.By Michelle Brown, November 01, 2016
- ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆I really enjoyed my first visit but the second time wasn't that as good as the first. The noodles were too dry and I could only finish half of the plate. However, the service was always great.By Johnny Park, October 16, 2016
