Went for a big dinner with the family visiting from out of town. The waitress seemed unhappy about a party larger than 2 coming in. There was only 8 of us in total - I've served much larger groups myself, it's not that hard. The food was not as good as I was expecting, based on eating at Swiss Chalet on the mainland. The Swiss Chalet chicken sauce tasted very off, was definitely made wrong. We were rushed through our sub-par meal and pushed to get dessert, which was disappointing as well. I would not recommend their lemon meringue pie - watery, far too tart and a very thin layer of meringue on top. Not worth it. Avoid this restaurant and take your family elsewhere for better service and tastier food.

Entered at 5:15, sat down by 5:20, waited 1 hour 10 mins for food. Never checked after food delivered, watched and saw many people that say after us, received before us... (Exact same dishes too). Very Disappointed! Butter for buns frozen solid! Left here at 6:54

Having recently moved to BC from QC where St-Hubert is king, decided to try Swiss Chalet. Swiss Chalet had recently purchased all of the St-Hubert restaurants. Cannot believe the difference. Swiss Chalet is not up to the standards in terms of taste and cleanliness of St-Hubert. Big disappointment. No comparison. Let's only hope that Swiss Chalet learns from St-Hubert how to run a restaurant.

First off... If you eat here, don't: you deserve better. If you work here, don't: you deserve better. The decor here leaves MUCH to be desired. It looks more antiquated truck stop than a proper Chalet restaurant. From there, it only got worse. My wife and I ordered the Stuffed Garlic Cheese Loaf to start, along with a Diet Pepsi for me and a chocolate milk for her. The loaf was drenched in butter and the cheese formed a blanket on top rather than being stuffed with it. The glass my wife's chocolate milk was in smelled bad. Not cleaners bad, but old stink bad. We ordered our mains, I with an Ultimate Bacon Cheeseburger (because how can you screw up a cheeseburger?) and poutine, and my wife with a Full Rack of Back Ribs, a multigrain bun, a fully loaded potato and please...hold the coleslaw. Well, actually, my wife wanted to swap out the coleslaw with a Caesar salad, and was flatly told, "No. We can't do that." You can't swap out a Caesar salad on your highest priced item on the menu? Strike #1. We got our mains - considering what we ordered, it was suspiciously quick, and my burger was clearly a frozen patty when it was cooked, and not fresh. My wife's rib rack was middle-of-the-road, but she was not provided with wetnaps or a small bowl of water for cleaning her fingers (like I've come to expect at restaurants which serve ribs). Her potato was this tiny, wrinkled thing. The multi-grain bun was stale beyond belief and rock hard. Oh, and there was a helping of coleslaw on the plate. Strike #2. We were both shocked at the quality of the food, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. The servers didn't once crack a smile, and their attitude was apathetic at best. I kept thinking, "Say something! SAY something!", but because my wife doesn't deal well with confrontation, I kept my mouth shut. We ate our mains (amazingly), and when a man - who was not our server - came by to collect our plates, he asked how things were and I couldn't stay quiet. I told him all of the things which were wrong with my wife's meal and how awful everything was, and he took everything I said in with a nod and went away to tell our server. Her response when she came back a few minutes later? "Your bun was hard?" When I answered in the affirmative, she simply walked away. A few minutes after THAT, she came back with our bill and said, "I took 10% off your bill. How would you like to pay?" Strike 3. Honestly, I thought the 10% off was a slap in the face. If I had been serving my table, I would have been horrified to hear of what had happened with this food. That it left the kitchen like that is reprehensible. I would not have slopped a pig with the meal my wife received. TL;DR: My wife and I had an appalling experience at the Swiss Chalet in Victoria, BC, and we spent $52 on a meal which didn't cost more than $20 at most. We were met with apathy and food of such low quality, I'm amazed they can justify charging $26 for my wife's rack of ribs. Avoid the Swiss Chalet in Victoria, BC like the plague. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! You'd be better off going to McDonald's, honestly. Or Denny's. Or buy the stuff yourself and cook at home. Q: You know what's better than eating at Victoria's Swiss Chalet? A: Anything.
